You are loosing money while you read this. Your creditors are laughing all the way to the bank. Because you have a low Credit Score you are paying more in interest rates, and god knows what additional fees are being tacked on.
Before we begin allow me to give you a word to the wise. Unless you are prepared to spend hundreds of dollars to boost your credit score prepare to do it yourself. It’s no where near as difficult as some would want you to believe.
Just like any good warrior you must prepare for battle, and trust me this is indeed a battle. You will first want to arm yourself with a copy of the “Fair Credit Billing Act” often referred to as FCBA. In order to get your copy just go to Google and do a search for them. Just make sure you have the latest version.
Your next step is to obtain a copy of your credit report. Despite popular belief I recommend that you do not order your report online. I recommend that you obtain your report the old fashion was via U.S. Mail. This will be the start of your paper trail that will become important to have on down the line.
At this point in the process you should have a copy of your credit report in your hands. Highlight all the negative items and gather any proof that will support your claims. Once that step has been completed, it’s time to send out your letters of dispute.
The credit bureaus have 30 days to respond either way. If they fail to do so then they MUST by law remove your disputed claims. Refer back to the FCBA that you should have printed out earlier.
